As we're sure you understand, many of our events will be slightly different this year due to the nature of the current pandemic, and may take some additional time to be planned. We hope to keep you entertained nonetheless!
CLANS (PEER MENTORSHIP)
There's no better welcome to the (U)Clan than a welcome from your own little family on campus. Students will be paired with one or more students from each year (ie. groups of ~5) and create a support network for each other, offering guidance on academics, participating together in socials, and partaking in the occasional Clan competition hosted by MedSoc. These clans will be your go-to people for the next 5 years of your med school journey. Interested students can pair up with a mentee of their choice or be paired up with someone brand new at the start of the year. The call to the clan (for upper year students to act as 'big sibs') will be out shortly, at which point you can fill out a form detailing your interests and objectives from the program. This will all be taken into consideration when creating your clan for the year. Freshers, stay tuned for more info.
Start the year off right with an induction into the medical profession. Don your fancy outfits and come snap a professional pic of your achievement at MedSoc's stethoscope booth (polaroids will also be available). Sign-ups for time slots will be out shortly.
FRESHERS SOCIAL (INTER-YEAR)
Not ready to study for exams yet? Join us for our annual trip to the Manchester Christmas Market for a quick study break!
International Evening is an opportunity for us to celebrate our diversity and appreciate the various cultures that contribute to our Med School's unique experience. Join us for a night of cultural dress, amazing potluck dinners, incredible performances by your peers, games to get to know each other, and of course, a party to wrap things up. The event is typically held in late January/early February. Remember to pack what you need over Christmas Break.
A night to remember with over 300 guests, MedBall is THE event of the year, and it gives students a chance to get dressed to the nines while celebrating their years' achievements. You can expect welcome drinks, a 5-course meal, some friendly competition, and a raging dance floor. Attendees typically choose their choice of an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage and meal selection, with the potential for open bar tickets as well. See you on the dance floor!
