As the oldest student-run society in the School of Medicine, UMS (MedSoc) supports and celebrates its students through each step of their medical school journey. We undertake a range of programs to empower you through academics, mentorship, wellbeing and community engagement. WHAT MEDSOC OFFERS
THE COMMITTEE
Welcome to UCLan, we’re excited to have you with us. On your journey through medicine, you’ll need to put in consistent effort, have a good support network, and be able to let loose. At UMS (MedSoc), we’ll help you achieve all of that. With a brand new scope of activities this year, we look forward to strengthening inter-year relations, creating new traditions, and getting involved in the community (and obviously repping some dope new gear while doing it).
As a GMC and World Medical Directory accredited school, we recognise how diverse our international cohorts are. This year, we want to focus on nourishing, promoting and celebrating that diversity. We want to uplift the voices of students whose lived experiences might be unique and/or marginalised by the medical and broader communities within which we interact. Our priority is to do better for our students who come from these backgrounds and to make their experience in Medicine as positive and productive as possible. Use the Report + Support tool to report any misconduct you experience. Through our Wellbeing and Community committees, we’ve set up some new platforms and services we’d love to see you interact with. Stay tuned for updates, and I can’t wait to see what we get up to together in 2020 (for starters, making it through a complete first semester). - Eshan (Chair) |
